EXCLUSIVE: Paula Deen, the queen of high-calorie Southern cooking, will reveal she has diabetes.

The Georgia-born chef — a Food Network star who has written five best-selling cookbooks — has been trying to keep her condition a secret, even after the National Enquirer reported in April that she has Type 2 diabetes, which is often associated with fatty foods and obesity.
Sources say Deen, 64, who never addressed the diabetes question, has worked out a multimillion-dollar deal to be the spokeswoman for a pharmaceutical company and endorse the drug she is taking…
“Paula Deen is going to have to reposition herself now that she has diabetes,” said one source. “She’s going to have to start cooking healthier recipes. She can’t keep pushing mac and cheese and deep-fried Twinkies when she is hawking a diabetes drug.”

Oh nooooooooooooooo

Sorry to hear that

She’s going to become the spokeswoman for a diabetes drug instead of just eating better?

Come on now, Paula. You’re my baby and everything but I need you to get that together.

^^^THIS. I love Paula, but she can easily cut 300 calories from each of her recipes by substituting ingredients, omitting most of the salt, and preparing smaller portions. I don’t know her personal health, but she can easily tap into the “Flavorful Diabetic Cooking” niche market.

but who said she even eats that way 24/7? because she’s fat and makes her money by teaching people how to cook good fattening food she now needs to change her whole lifestyle image to satisfy the public and make them think she’s healthy? why does she have to cook “healthy” food now? thats not what she came to tv for. it would be cool to offer alternative recipes that are “healthier” but thats not her job. People have known for years that she makes all the good shit you shouldnt eat. thats what shes about.

Her son has a show called Not My Mother’s Meals in which he takes her recipes and make them without all the fat and calories.  I actually like the show because she is in there with him and his food looks just as good.  I’m assuming (guessing) that this show is a way to introduce healthier alternatives without her changing her image all the way.  Mama Paula makes it the good old fashioned way and her son lightens them up. But hell, she can do whatever she wants. If it is indeed true that she’s promoting a diabetes drug, then so be it.  Don’t knock the hustle because our doctors and ER’s do the same damn thing..at least she’d be open about it.
